Mother's Day has just been celebrated and, as always, in this period of the year all teachers like us were busy in looking for a small, simple and handmade present that would have been meaningful both for pupils and their mums.
By looking at books and surfing a bit 'here and there' on the internet we found beautiful cards, bouquets of paper flowers and much more ... but we then stopped looking round and we tried our best to get a better idea.

We thought of a pretty and tasty "love jam" made with a simple glass jar (as the one traditionally used here in Italy for jam) full of tender and sweet messages written down by pupils to their mums.
We then put the usual red & white checked jam jar cover on the top and added a label with the explanation of what exactly the jar contained, that was, "the reasons I love you..." isn't this sweet?!

Despite being a simple and humble handmade present, this sweet love jar had a tremendous success among Year 1 mums!

We thought it was a simple but perfect idea for this celebration because what's more useful than a warm hug when we are all tired, stressed and always out of time!
And why not to think about the idea of preparing one of these jars for our kids...cuddles are never enough!
